On July 9, 2024, the 5th Plenary Session of the International Black Soil Alliance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (INBS) and the Academic Conference on Sustainable Utilization of Black Soil were held in Changchun, Jilin Province, jointly organized by the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences (Northeast Innovation Center for Agricultural Science and Technology of China), the Chinese Soil Society, the School of Land Science and Technology of China Agricultural University, and the Jilin Soil Society. More than 160 scholars from 13 countries including China, the United States, and Russia attended the conference, focusing on the theme of "black soil health, food security, and environmental friendliness".
